Why prices show USD and checkout charges CAD

Why FoxFolio Cloud shows prices in US dollars with a Canadian-dollar conversion, why checkout and invoices are in CAD, and which amount you actually agree to pay.

Quick answer

FoxFolio Cloud shows selected prices in US dollars for comparison, with a Canadian-dollar conversion beneath. Checkout, invoices and renewals are charged in Canadian dollars. The final CAD amount shown at checkout, before you pay, is the amount you agree to; the conversion can change for future orders as exchange rates move. Prices exclude tax.

Before you start

  • Nothing is needed to read this guide. To see an exact amount, open the product in the checkout.

How the two prices relate

  • The USD price is the headline price for comparing plans and services.
  • The CAD price beneath it is a conversion, rounded up to an amount ending in .99. It is what FoxFolio Cloud charges.
  • Because exchange rates move, the CAD conversion for a new order can change from day to day. The Terms of service explain this.
  • A price change never affects a term you have already paid for.

Steps

  1. Compare in USD if you like

Use the USD figures on product pages such as Cloud Hosting or Domains to compare options.

  2. Read the CAD amount

Look at the CAD figure under each price. That is the currency you will be charged in.

  3. Keep the store currency on CAD

The account store has a currency selector. Leave it on CAD: orders are completed and invoiced in Canadian dollars.

  4. Check the checkout summary

Before you pay, the checkout shows the service, billing term, CAD price, tax and total. That final CAD total is what you agree to pay. If anything is wrong, fix it before submitting.

What you should see

You know the CAD total, including tax, before paying, and your invoice and card statement show Canadian dollars.

Troubleshooting and common mistakes

The CAD amount at checkout differs slightly from the product page.
The product page shows a conversion based on a recent exchange rate. The checkout amount is the one that applies to your order.
Your bank shows a foreign-currency fee.
Charges are in CAD. If your card is in another currency, your card issuer may convert it and add its own fee; FoxFolio Cloud does not control that.
The store is showing US dollars.
Switch the currency selector back to CAD before checking out.

When to contact FoxFolio support
