- Getting started and your accountCreate your FoxFolio Cloud accountYou can create a FoxFolio Cloud account at account.foxfolio.cloud/register.php, or let checkout create it during your first order. Enter your real name, a working email address, your billing address and a strong password, then accept the Terms of service. The same account is used for every order, invoice, domain and support ticket.
- Getting started and your accountVerify your account email addressWhen your account asks you to verify your email address, open the verification email from FoxFolio Cloud and select its link while you are signed in or about to sign in. The link is short-lived; if it has expired, use the resend option in the banner at the top of your account area to get a new one.

Open the reset email and follow its link within about two hours to set a new password. FoxFolio Cloud staff never ask for your password and cannot tell you what it is.

Sign in at account.foxfolio.cloud, open Support → Open Ticket, choose a department, select the related service, describe the problem and submit. Replies arrive by email and in Support → Tickets. Never include passwords, card numbers or domain transfer codes in a ticket.

Billing permissions cover invoices and payment methods; service permissions let a user manage services and open the hosting control panel. Give each person their own sign-in with only the access they need, and remove it when the work ends.

Keep the email address working, because the Terms say notices are sent there and treated as received the day they are sent. Setup starts automatically once the first payment is received, and you get a hosting-ready email when the service is active. You then sign in to your account, open Services → My Services, choose the service and select Log in to Control Panel. WordPress is not preinstalled; you install it or request the migration.

FoxFolio Cloud assigns an address on foxfoliocloud.com with a number in it; you cannot choose or change the number. Use it to build and preview the site, then connect your own domain for a permanent public address.
- Website hostingBuy hosting for a domain you already ownAt checkout, choose I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers and enter the full domain, such as example.com. You keep your current registrar. After setup, point the domain to FoxFolio Cloud, but first save your existing DNS records, especially email (MX) and verification records, so nothing is lost when DNS changes.
- Website hostingRegister or transfer a domain while buying hostingOn the hosting checkout’s domain step, choose Register a new domain to search for an available name, or Transfer your domain from another registrar to move a domain you own. FoxFolio Cloud registers .com, .ca, .net, .org and .io. The domain is charged separately from hosting, and checkout shows its CAD price, any optional privacy protection, tax and total before you pay.
- Website hostingOpen your hosting control panelSign in to your FoxFolio Cloud account at account.foxfolio.cloud, open Services → My Services, choose the hosting service, and select Log in to Control Panel. The control panel opens at panel.foxfolio.cloud already signed in to that one service, so you do not need a separate control-panel password.
- Website hostingManage website files with File Manager, FTP and SFTPFor quick changes, open the control panel and use File Manager; your website files live in public_html. For larger uploads, unlock FTP in the control panel, copy the host and username from FTP Details, and connect with an FTP program such as FileZilla using SFTP on port 22, which encrypts the connection. Use SSH only if you are comfortable with the command line.
- Website hostingCreate and manage MySQL databasesOpen the control panel, select MySQL Databases, enter a name and create the database; a short suffix is added automatically and a user is created with it. Use phpMyAdmin to import a .sql file or export a copy. Each database can hold up to 1 GB. WordPress plans are designed for one WordPress site and its single database.
- Website hostingChange your PHP version and PHP settingsOpen the control panel and select Change PHP Version to choose the version your site needs; the change usually applies within a minute. Use PHP Configuration to adjust settings such as upload_max_filesize and memory_limit, which both start at 128M. Take a backup and check that your themes, plugins or application support the new version first.

To host another independent website, order another Cloud Hosting, WordPress Cloud or Managed WordPress service on the same account and give it its own domain. If you only want a second domain to show the same website, open a ticket to ask for an alias instead.
- Website hostingChange the main domain of a hosting serviceChanging the main (primary) domain of a hosting service is done by FoxFolio Cloud support, because the hosting and your account record must change together. Open a ticket from the service, give the new domain and confirm you control it. Prepare DNS and email first, and on WordPress expect the site address to be updated as part of the change.
- Website hostingHosting limits and what you are responsible forFoxFolio Cloud hosting scales resources with demand, but each service has limits, such as its mailbox allowance and the 1 GB size of each database, and the Terms forbid use that harms other customers or breaks the law. You are responsible for your website’s content, code, themes, plugins and your own backups. Support covers the hosting platform and control panel, not building or debugging your site.
- WordPressInstall WordPress on your hostingWordPress is not preinstalled on new FoxFolio Cloud services. On WordPress Cloud, open the hosting control panel from your account and run the WordPress installer for your domain; on Cloud Hosting, use the one-click application installer. Managed WordPress includes one reviewed installation or migration done by FoxFolio Cloud, so Managed WordPress customers do not need to install it themselves.

From one screen you can check the WordPress version, update core, manage plugins, themes and users, reset a WordPress password, run a search and replace, open the WordPress dashboard and create a staging copy. Advanced users can also use WP-CLI over SSH.
- WordPressTest changes on a WordPress staging siteOn WordPress Cloud and Managed WordPress, the control panel’s WordPress tools can create a staging site: a private working copy of your live site, usually at staging. followed by your domain. Test updates, themes and plugins there, then choose the option to clone the staging site into live. Publishing overwrites the live site, so take a backup first.

On Managed WordPress, FoxFolio Cloud applies minor and security core updates and reviews major core, active plugin and active theme updates in a scheduled maintenance cycle.

- WordPressMove an existing WordPress site to FoxFolio CloudThe simplest way to move a WordPress site is the free migration included with FoxFolio Cloud hosting: order a WordPress plan, then open a ticket from your account with the site details. FoxFolio Cloud copies the files and database, you check the copy on a preview address, and only then do you point the domain. Keep the old hosting active until the new site is confirmed working.
- WordPressFix common WordPress errorsMost WordPress errors come from a plugin, the theme, a low PHP memory limit or wrong database details in wp-config.php. Check the error log in the control panel, deactivate the most recently changed plugin or theme from the WordPress tools, and compare the database settings with MySQL Databases. Take a backup before editing files.

The registration request is sent after payment, and you must answer any registrant verification email.
- Domains and DNSTransfer a domain to FoxFolio CloudTo transfer a domain to FoxFolio Cloud, unlock it at your current registrar, get its authorization (EPP) code, and order the transfer in the FoxFolio Cloud transfer cart, entering the code there. The transfer has its own charge, shown in CAD with HST before you pay, and usually extends the registration by one year. Approve any email the registrant receives.
- Domains and DNSPoint a domain you own to FoxFolio Cloud hostingTo point a domain registered elsewhere at FoxFolio Cloud, change its nameservers at your registrar to ns1.stackdns.com, ns2.stackdns.com, ns3.stackdns.com and ns4.stackdns.com. Before you switch, copy every existing DNS record and re-create the ones you still need, such as external email or verification records, in your FoxFolio Cloud control panel. Nameserver changes usually work within hours and can take up to 48.
- Domains and DNSNameservers and DNS records explainedNameservers say which company answers DNS questions for a domain; FoxFolio Cloud’s are ns1.stackdns.com to ns4.stackdns.com. DNS records are the answers: A and AAAA records point to a server, CNAME points one name at another, MX says where email is delivered and TXT holds text such as SPF, DKIM, DMARC and verification codes. Edit records in the DNS tool of your control panel.
- Domains and DNSHow long DNS changes take to workChanges to DNS records in a FoxFolio Cloud control panel reach FoxFolio Cloud’s DNS servers within about a minute, but other networks may keep the old answer for up to the record’s time-to-live, usually about an hour. Nameserver changes at a registrar are slower: usually a few hours and occasionally up to 48 hours.
- Domains and DNSDomain contact details and registrant verificationRegistries require the domain owner’s (registrant’s) name and email to be accurate. After a new registration, a transfer or any change to the registrant details, the registry may email a verification link to the registrant address. Open it and confirm within the deadline, normally 15 days, or the domain can be suspended and its website and email will stop.
- Domains and DNSDomain renewals, expiry and grace periodsDomains registered or transferred through FoxFolio Cloud renew automatically each year unless you turn auto-renewal off or cancel, on the same notice basis as hosting in the Terms. The renewal is charged in CAD with HST and is not refundable. If a domain expires, the website and email stop; it can usually be renewed during a grace period, and later only with an extra redemption fee, before it is released.
- Domains and DNSDomain privacy and ID protectionID protection is an optional yearly add-on for eligible domains registered or transferred through FoxFolio Cloud. It replaces your personal contact details in the public registration (WHOIS) record with privacy details and forwards messages to you. Many registries already hide personal details by default, so it is not always needed. Add it at checkout; the CAD charge is shown before you pay.
- Domains and DNSSubdomains, aliases and separate websitesEach FoxFolio Cloud hosting service runs one website with one main domain. A separate, independent website, including one on a subdomain such as blog.example.com, needs its own eligible hosting service. Extra subdomains or domain aliases for the same website are not self-service; FoxFolio Cloud support adds approved ones on request. You can still create DNS records for your own domain wherever its DNS is managed.
- Domains and DNSConnect a domain to email without website hostingWith Basic Email, your domain’s email can use FoxFolio Cloud while the website stays elsewhere. Either point the domain’s nameservers to FoxFolio Cloud and re-create your website records in the control panel, or keep DNS where it is and change only the mail records: the MX record to mx.stackmail.com plus the SPF, DKIM and DMARC TXT records shown in your control panel.
- EmailBasic Email or Premium Mailbox: which do you need?Use Basic Email when you want one 10 GB mailbox on your domain without website hosting. If you already have FoxFolio Cloud hosting, 10 GB Standard Mailboxes are included within your plan’s limits. Add Premium Mailbox only when one existing Standard Mailbox needs 50 GB of storage or calendar and contact sync; it is an annual upgrade, not a new mailbox.
- EmailUse FoxFolio Cloud email without website hostingOrder Basic Email from the Business Email page, choose the domain for your address at checkout, and pay. Once the service is active, open its control panel from your account, create the mailbox and its password, and make sure the domain’s DNS points mail to FoxFolio Cloud. Basic Email includes one 10 GB mailbox and email and DNS tools only.
- EmailCreate a mailboxOpen your service’s control panel from your FoxFolio Cloud account, select Email Accounts, type the part of the address before the @ sign, and choose Create Email Account. Replace the suggested password with your own strong one if you prefer, store it safely, and allow up to 30 minutes before the new mailbox receives mail.
- EmailRead and send email in webmailThe simplest way into webmail is through your control panel: open Email Accounts, choose the mailbox, and select Webmail from its options. Webmail opens signed in to that mailbox. From there you can read and send mail, manage contacts, and set a signature, an out-of-office reply or a new mailbox password under Settings.
- EmailSet up email in Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or a phoneAdd the account in your mail app with your full email address as the username and your mailbox password. Use IMAP server imap.stackmail.com on port 993 with SSL/TLS, and SMTP server smtp.stackmail.com on port 465 with SSL/TLS (or 587 with STARTTLS), with authentication switched on for outgoing mail. IMAP is recommended so every device sees the same messages.
- EmailForwarders, autoresponders and alias addressesIn the control panel, a forwarder sends mail for one address on to another address, with or without a mailbox behind it. A catch-all forwarder collects mail sent to addresses that do not exist. Autoresponders send an automatic reply at most once every eight hours per sender. Each change can take up to 30 minutes to start working.
- EmailSet up SPF, DKIM and DMARC for your domainSPF lists which servers may send mail for your domain, DKIM adds a signature to each message, and DMARC tells receivers what to do with mail that fails those checks. On FoxFolio Cloud, an SPF record is added for you, DKIM is switched on under DomainKeys, and a DMARC record is added with the DMARC Wizard. Start DMARC with the policy None.
- EmailMove existing email to FoxFolio CloudCreate the destination mailbox first, then use the Email Migration tool in the control panel to copy messages from your old provider over IMAP. Your old mailbox keeps its copy, so there is no mail downtime. When the copy finishes, point your domain’s MX record to FoxFolio Cloud and run the migration once more to pick up anything that arrived in between.
- EmailMailbox storage and upgrading to Premium MailboxStandard Mailboxes hold 10 GB. When one is full, new messages bounce back to the sender, so keep an eye on usage in webmail. To free space, empty Trash and Junk and remove large attachments. If one person needs more, order Premium Mailbox for that exact address: it raises the mailbox to 50 GB and adds calendar and contact sync, billed annually.
- SSL and securityTurn on the free SSL certificate included with hostingEligible FoxFolio Cloud hosting includes a free wildcard SSL certificate that covers your domain and its subdomains and renews itself. It needs your domain to use FoxFolio Cloud nameservers, ns1.stackdns.com to ns4.stackdns.com. If it is not already on, open SSL/TLS in the control panel and choose Activate Free SSL; allow up to 30 minutes for it to take effect.
- SSL and securityChoose the right SSL certificateMost websites should use the free SSL certificate included with FoxFolio Cloud hosting. Choose Simple SSL if your DNS must stay outside FoxFolio Cloud or you need a commercial certificate for one address, RapidSSL Wildcard to cover a domain and its first-level subdomains, and Extended SSL when you need the organization’s identity checked. A paid certificate does not make the encryption stronger.
- SSL and securityOrder and validate a commercial SSL certificateBefore ordering, make sure admin@yourdomain can receive mail, as a mailbox or a forwarder. After payment, the certificate authority emails that address, usually within 30 minutes. Approve the request and the certificate is installed on your hosting, usually within about an hour. Extended SSL also includes extra organization checks, and the certificate authority contacts you by email with instructions.
- SSL and securityForce HTTPS and fix “Not secure” warningsOnce your SSL certificate is active, switch on Force HTTPS in the control panel’s SSL/TLS page so every visit uses HTTPS. If the browser still says “Not secure” or hides the padlock, the page is loading some images, scripts or styles over http://. Find them in the browser’s developer console and change them to https://; on WordPress, also set both site addresses to HTTPS and clear the cache.
- SSL and securityUse the included malware scannerFoxFolio Cloud hosting includes a malware scanner that checks your website’s changed files every day. Open Malware Scan in the control panel to see results and choose Scan again after a fix. While infected files remain, sending mail from the website and scheduled tasks can be paused automatically; they come back after a clean rescan. The scanner finds problems; cleaning them is not included.
- SSL and securityWhat to do if your website is hackedChange your passwords first, then find the damage with the malware scanner and access logs. Recover by restoring a clean backup or replacing infected files with fresh copies, update everything, and scan again. FoxFolio Cloud support helps you understand scan results and the hosting tools, but malware cleanup is not included in any plan; it can be quoted separately.
- SSL and securityKeep your website, FTP and WordPress access secureUse a unique, strong password for every tool, prefer SFTP or SSH keys to plain FTP, give each person their own WordPress login with only the role they need, and remove access as soon as someone no longer needs it. Keep WordPress and its plugins updated. Passwords stored in the control panel cannot be viewed later, so keep them in a password manager.
- Backups and recoveryCreate an on-demand backup of your websiteOpen Backup/Restore in your control panel, tick Files and Databases, and choose Create Backup. When it finishes, download the ZIP straight away: completed backups stay available in the control panel for 12 hours only. Keep the file somewhere safe outside FoxFolio Cloud, because this included tool makes a copy when you ask and does not keep a recurring off-site history.
- Backups and recoveryRestore files or a database from a backupBefore restoring anything, create and download a fresh backup of the site as it is now. Then open Backup/Restore, choose a restore mode (replace existing files, add missing files only, or restore to a temporary folder), tick Restore Databases only if you want the database replaced, and upload a ZIP made by this tool. Check the site carefully afterwards.
- Backups and recoveryWhat Premium Website Backups covers and how it is activatedPremium Website Backups adds scheduled, recurring snapshots for one compatible FoxFolio Cloud hosting service, including the domains and subdomains attached to it. It is billed monthly and asks for your website’s domain at checkout. FoxFolio activates it manually after payment, normally within one business day, and tells you when protection has started. Until then, use the included on-demand backup tools.
- Backups and recoveryWhat you remain responsible for with backupsFoxFolio Cloud provides backup and restore tools, but you remain responsible for keeping your own independent copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. The included tools create backups on demand only. When a service ends, its data is held for 30 days and then permanently deleted, so export what you need before that. A simple routine of regular downloads, stored in two places, covers most risks.
- MigrationsThe free migration offer: what is includedFoxFolio Cloud hosting includes a free migration of supported websites, MySQL databases and mailboxes from your current host. FoxFolio reviews the site for compatibility first, copies it to your new hosting, and checks the copy before any DNS change. Redesigns, repairs to a broken source site, domain registrations and third-party services are not part of the free migration.
- MigrationsPrepare your website, database and email for migrationBefore a migration, list every website, database and mailbox to move, confirm your old hosting account is active and not over its storage limit, and note where your domain’s DNS is managed. Open a signed-in support ticket to start; FoxFolio tells you in the ticket what access it needs. Never send passwords through the public contact form.
- MigrationsHow a migration is checked before DNS changesFoxFolio copies your site to your new hosting while the old site keeps running, then checks the copy on a preview address before anything public changes. You review it too. Only after both checks pass do you change DNS. A typical website copy takes about 30 minutes and can take up to about three hours; a 1–2 GB mailbox usually takes about 30 minutes.
- MigrationsAfter a migration: final checks and a rollback planAfter DNS points to FoxFolio Cloud, check the site, HTTPS, forms and email over the next day or two while the change spreads. Keep the old hosting account active and keep a copy of the old DNS values until everything works; changing DNS back is your rollback. Close the old account only after the final mail copy and your checks are complete.
- Billing and checkoutWhy prices show USD and checkout charges CADFoxFolio Cloud shows selected prices in US dollars for comparison, with a Canadian-dollar conversion beneath. Checkout, invoices and renewals are charged in Canadian dollars. The final CAD amount shown at checkout, before you pay, is the amount you agree to; the conversion can change for future orders as exchange rates move. Prices exclude tax.
- Billing and checkoutHow sales tax (HST) is chargedFoxFolio Cloud prices exclude sales tax. Tax is calculated and shown separately at checkout before you pay, and it appears on your invoice. Every order is currently charged Ontario’s 13% HST rate. FoxFolio Cloud’s tax registration number is shown in the Terms of service.
- Billing and checkoutBilling terms and first-year promotional pricingHosting can be bought monthly or for one, two or three years, and the full term is paid at purchase. Two- and three-year terms include a promotional rate for the first year only: the amount due today combines that discounted first year with each remaining year at the standard annual rate, so nothing more is charged after year one. Renewals use the then-current standard rate.
- Billing and checkoutPay invoices and manage payment methodsYour invoices are in your FoxFolio Cloud account under Billing → My Invoices, where you can view, download and pay them in Canadian dollars. Saved cards are managed under Payment Methods; the default method is the one charged automatically for renewals. To pay an unpaid invoice with a different card, open the invoice and pay it manually.
- Billing and checkoutUse a promotion codeEnter a promotion code in the FoxFolio Cloud cart before you check out, and the discount appears in the order summary. You do not need a code for the two- and three-year hosting promotion: the links in the FoxFolio checkout apply it automatically. Each code has its own conditions, such as which product, billing term or dates it covers.
- Billing and checkoutHow renewals and renewal notices workFoxFolio Cloud services renew automatically for the same length of term at the then-current standard rate unless you cancel first. Before each automatic renewal, a notice is sent to your registered email address with the date, term and amount: at least 30 days before for terms of one year or longer, and at least 14 days before for monthly terms. Domains renew on the same notice basis.
- Billing and checkoutCancel a serviceYou can cancel a FoxFolio Cloud service at any time by selecting Request Cancellation on the service in your account, or by contacting support. Cancellation takes effect when FoxFolio Cloud confirms it, which it aims to do within one business day. Cancelling stops the service renewing; it does not refund unused time already paid for unless the money-back guarantee or the law applies.
- Billing and checkoutRefunds and the 30-day money-back guaranteeIf a FoxFolio Cloud hosting service is not right for you, tell FoxFolio Cloud within 30 days of the date the set-up was confirmed and you are refunded what you paid for that service, one refund per customer. The guarantee covers hosting only. Domain registrations, renewals and transfers, and third-party products such as commercial SSL certificates and paid licences, are not refundable under it.
- Billing and checkoutDomain registration, transfer and renewal chargesEach domain extension has a yearly price for registration, transfer and renewal, shown on the FoxFolio Cloud Domains page in USD with a CAD conversion. Checkout shows the exact CAD amount, any optional privacy add-on, tax and total before you pay. Domains renew automatically unless you turn renewal off, and domain fees are paid to the registry and are not refundable.
- Billing and checkoutWhat happens if a payment failsIf a payment fails, FoxFolio Cloud retries the payment method on your account and contacts you. You can pay the unpaid invoice yourself at any time from Billing → My Invoices. If payment stays outstanding, a service may be suspended, but the Terms of service say FoxFolio Cloud will tell you before suspending.
- VPS and cloud serversManaged cloud server or unmanaged VPS?Choose a managed cloud server if you want dedicated resources while the platform maintains the server software, security tooling and control panel for you. Choose an unmanaged VPS only if you need full root access to install your own operating-system software and you, or your developer, will handle updates, security and backups yourself.
- VPS and cloud serversChoose a server provider, region, size and operating systemPick the region closest to most of your visitors, then the smallest size that fits your current workload. For a managed cloud server you also choose 20iCloud, AWS or Google Cloud and an optimisation profile such as WordPress or PHP. For an unmanaged VPS choose London or Dallas and an operating system that still receives security updates. The order form shows the CAD price before you pay.

Support covers the platform, the network, the control panel and managed-server services. It does not cover writing or repairing your own code, and on an unmanaged VPS it does not cover the software you install.
- TroubleshootingFix a domain that is not resolvingA domain that does not resolve usually has the wrong nameservers, a missing or wrong A record, a recent change that is still spreading, an unanswered registrant-verification email, or an expired registration. Check each in that order. For FoxFolio Cloud hosting, the domain should normally use ns1.stackdns.com to ns4.stackdns.com.
- TroubleshootingFix an SSL certificate that is pending or missingThe free SSL certificate needs the domain to use FoxFolio Cloud’s nameservers (ns1–ns4.stackdns.com) and that change to have finished spreading. It can also be blocked by DNSSEC switched on at another registrar or by leftover _acme-challenge records. Fix the cause, then activate SSL again and allow up to 30 minutes.
- TroubleshootingFix a website that is not loadingCheck in this order: the service status page, your service’s status in your account, the domain’s DNS, then the error logs in the control panel. Most outages that affect one site are caused by a PHP or plugin error, an expired domain, an unpaid service or a DNS change. The error message and the log usually point to the cause.
- TroubleshootingFix email that is not sending or receivingFirst test in webmail. If webmail works, the problem is in your mail app: use imap.stackmail.com port 993 and smtp.stackmail.com port 465 or 587 with your full email address as the username. If webmail also fails, check that the mailbox is not full, that the domain’s MX record points to mx.stackmail.com, and that sending limits have not been reached.
- TroubleshootingFix storage limits for websites and mailboxesWebsites, databases and mailboxes each have their own limit. A full mailbox rejects new mail, a database can hold up to 1 GB, and and a website can stop accepting uploads if it reaches a storage limit on the service. Find what is taking space in the control panel, remove old backups, logs and large files, and consider a Premium Mailbox, or ask support about website space, if you still need more.

If two-step sign-in is on and you lost your device, use your backup code. The hosting control panel has no separate password: always open it from your account with Log in to Control Panel.
