Quick answer

Order Basic Email from the Business Email page, choose the domain for your address at checkout, and pay. Once the service is active, open its control panel from your account, create the mailbox and its password, and make sure the domain’s DNS points mail to FoxFolio Cloud. Basic Email includes one 10 GB mailbox and email and DNS tools only.

Before you start

  • A FoxFolio Cloud account, or the details to create one at checkout
  • A domain you own, one you will register at checkout, or acceptance of a FoxFolio Cloud subdomain to start
  • Access to your domain’s DNS if the domain stays registered elsewhere

Applies to: Basic Email.

What Basic Email includes

  • One 10 GB Standard Mailbox on the domain you choose.
  • Webmail, forwarders, autoresponders, spam and virus filtering, and DKIM and DMARC tools.
  • Domain and DNS controls for the service.
  • No website files, FTP, databases or website-building tools. If you later need a website, buy a hosting plan.

Steps

  1. Start the order

Go to the Business Email page and choose Basic Email. Checkout opens in your FoxFolio Cloud account.

  2. Choose the domain

Pick one of the domain options: register a new domain, transfer one, use a domain you already own, or Use a FoxFolio Cloud subdomain. A domain you own is the better long-term choice for business email.

  3. Review and pay

Check the monthly CAD price, tax and total, then complete payment. The service is set up after the first payment is received.

  4. Open the control panel

In your account, open Services → My Services, select Basic Email and choose Log in to Control Panel.

  5. Create the mailbox

Open Email Accounts, enter the part before the @ sign and create it. Choose your own strong password. See Create a mailbox.

  6. Connect the domain

If the domain uses FoxFolio Cloud nameservers, mail records are set for you. If DNS stays with another provider, add the MX, SPF and DKIM records described in Connect a domain to email only.

What you should see

Messages sent to your new address arrive in webmail and in any mail app you connect, and messages you send are signed for your domain.

Troubleshooting and common mistakes

Mail to the new address bounces with “mailbox does not exist”.
A new mailbox can take up to 30 minutes to start receiving. Wait, then send another test.
Mail still arrives at your old provider.
The domain’s MX record still points elsewhere, or the DNS change is still spreading. See How long DNS changes take.
You cannot find File Manager or databases.
That is expected. Basic Email includes email and DNS tools only.

When to contact FoxFolio support

Open a ticket if the service stays Pending after payment, or if mail does not arrive more than a day after your DNS records were changed. Include the domain and a copy of any bounce message, but never your mailbox password.
