What Managed WordPress includes and excludes
The exact scope of FoxFolio Cloud Managed WordPress: included maintenance, monitoring and support, and the work that is quoted separately.
Quick answer
Managed WordPress covers one WordPress site: one reviewed installation or migration, automatic minor and security core updates, scheduled review of major core, active plugin and active theme updates, availability and security alert triage, a backup before FoxFolio-managed changes, restore coordination and authenticated support. Content, design, SEO, custom code, third-party licences and malware cleanup beyond initial triage are quoted separately.
Before you start
- A Managed WordPress service, or a decision to compare it with WordPress Cloud
Applies to: Managed WordPress.
Included
- WordPress-optimized hosting for one website.
- One reviewed WordPress installation, or one migration of an existing site after a compatibility review.
- Automatic WordPress minor and security core updates.
- Scheduled review and application of major core, active plugin and active theme updates, with a pre-change backup and a basic check of pages and the WordPress dashboard afterwards.
- Availability monitoring and triage of hosting, SSL and malware alerts.
- A files-and-database backup before FoxFolio-managed changes, and coordination of a restore when covered data needs recovery.
- The platform features included with hosting: free SSL, firewall and DDoS protection, daily malware scans, caching, staging and the WordPress tools.
- Support through authenticated tickets linked to the service.
Quoted separately
Updates that fail compatibility checks are held back and you are told. If fixing them needs custom work, FoxFolio Cloud quotes before starting. Managed WordPress reduces routine risk; it cannot promise that a site will never go down or be compromised.
Managed WordPress does not include daily or off-site backup retention. For scheduled backups, see Premium Website Backups.
- Writing or editing content, design, SEO, analytics and marketing work.
- Custom PHP, JavaScript, themes, plugins, integrations or new features.
- Paid third-party licences and managing third-party accounts.
- Emergency recovery caused by abandoned or unsupported software, compromised passwords or changes made outside FoxFolio Cloud’s maintenance process.
- Malware cleanup beyond platform scanning and initial triage.
- Shop orders or other data held outside the covered website files and database.
Steps
Confirm it fits one site
Managed WordPress covers one WordPress website. Each additional website needs its own service.
Arrange the included installation or migration
After ordering, open a support ticket from your account saying whether you want a new installation or a migration. For a migration, read Prepare for a migration.
Keep your part of the work
Keep content, product data and premium licences current, and tell FoxFolio Cloud before installing new plugins or making large changes yourself.
Raise requests through tickets
Report problems and ask for help through authenticated tickets so each request is linked to the managed service.
Ask for a quote for anything outside scope
Describe the work in a ticket and you will receive a quote before anything outside the included scope begins.
What you should see
You know which tasks FoxFolio Cloud performs routinely, which remain yours, and how to request work outside the plan before it starts.
Troubleshooting and common mistakes
- An update you expected has not been applied.
- Major and plugin updates are applied in a scheduled cycle after review, and some are held back if they fail checks. Ask in a ticket for the status of a specific update.
- You installed a plugin and the site broke.
- Changes made outside the maintenance process can fall outside the included scope. Open a ticket straight away; restoring the pre-change state may be possible from a backup.
When to contact FoxFolio support
Open a ticket to arrange the included installation or migration, report a problem with the site, or request a quote for out-of-scope work. Include the service domain and what you need.
Common questions
Does Managed WordPress include malware removal?
It includes daily scanning and initial triage of alerts. Full cleanup and repair are assessed and quoted separately.
Can I still install plugins myself?
Yes, but tell FoxFolio Cloud first. Problems caused by changes outside the maintenance process may be quoted separately.
